Production Team

By the time auditions are being held and people in the communityare starting to hear about the next show that we will be staged, the production team will already have been discussing ideas, planning and designing for months and months.

Director

The director is responsible for the overall concept and creative vision, and for bringing all the aspects of the show together by interpreting the script and figuring out a way of making all of the words on the page translate into a show on the stage. The director leads rehearsals and must keep the cast and crew happy and motivated.

The Director is basically the boss, but also has the responsibility of making it all come together at the right time.

After a lifetime of taking part in a wide variety of shows and pantomimes, Lucy is directing for the second time and has taken on a huge challenge this year, adapting the script for the small stage, and with a cast of over 60 to get organised and keep under control.

Her passion is to make performing or being part of a show in any capacity accessible to everyone and believes strongly in the many benefits that being creative and part of an amazing team can offer.

Producer

The producer has the unenviable job of keeping the Director under control and overseeing all the aspects of putting on a show, including the budget. It is incredibly expensive to put on a show, with venue hire, licensing, technical equipment, music, set and costumes to take into account. As with most community groups, WADS relies on sponsorship and Front of House proceeds as well as ticket sales to cover the cost of the production.

Carolyn is also the Treasurer of WADS Committee and has many years experience in this field of work. She is incredibly dedicated to the group and a fantastic support to all involved.

Musical Directors

WADS are delighted to be able to work with Naomi and Jonathan who bring so much experience and expertise to the team. They have been part of the WADS team since the very beginning and provide amazing support to both the cast and production team.

Together they get the very best vocal performance possible from each performer and create amazing arrangements of songs to compliment each show perfectly. The first rehearsal with the live band is always the most magical - there is nothing quite like the atmosphere created by live music.

Choreographer

Choreography adds a whole extra level of colour and excitement to any show. It takes many months of rehearsals and a lot of careful placement to ensure everyone does the right moves and can be seen doing them! Bearing in mind our cast this year ranges in age from 4 to over 60 and many have little or no dance experience we are incredibly proud of what they achieve. We are delighted to be working with Sara Ford from 4th Dimension for the second time.

Stage Manager

The stage manager heads up the backstage team and makes sure there are enough people to get all of the stage and set work done. The stage Manager works closely with the director to understand the creative concept

Designer

The designer creates a marketing ‘image’ for the show to use for posters, tickets, promotional materials and programmes etc. Robin Howlett of Howlett Marketing Communications Limited has worked closely with WADS for several years and his creative genius is a fantastic asset to the team.

For our latest production, Robin is working hard to create a series of animated backdrop / scenery images which will be projected onto the stage set. This is a very excited use of technology to help add a whole new dimension to the show.
